Best of the Best

The Apache AH-64E is often referred to as the most advanced attack helicopter in the world. Why is that?

Engines located on the new Apache have been upgraded along with the transmission, meaning its crews could fly at higher altitudes for longer while offering better performance in every situation.

A new radar with an extended range was also installed, giving them a better tactical ability when fighting other aircraft.

Its Target Acquisition and Designation System, or TADS, also had upgraded cameras and systems, including a new flair system that allows more fidelity when prosecuting targets at greater ranges.

If that wasn’t enough, a 30mm cannon underneath the aircraft (which hasn’t changed much from the Mk 1) can fire 600 rounds a minute.

A rocket pod on each wing also allows several rocket variations depending on the mission. The Hellfire, the most famous part of the Apache, is primarily used to destroy tanks at longer ranges.

With these weapons in their arsenal, the AH-64E can carry out a deep strike (with refuel), push further than most assets can, and a whole lot more.
