Landing Craft Air Cushions are a class of hovercraft used by the US Navy. These hovercrafts are used to transport weapons, cargo, and personnel from ship to shore.

They are powered by four gas turbine engines that allow them to travel at 46 mph. Its rubber skirt traps air and suspends the hovercraft using that air cushion.

Today, ships like the Harpers Ferry-class dock landing ships are built to transport and launch LCACs while also providing helicopter landing facilities. 

The video shows the LCAC approaching the USS Carter Hall for transport. The ship’s well deck can handle two LCACs at a time. While aboard the ship, the LCAC can undergo maintenance or be loaded with cargo. Inside, it’s also washed down with fresh water to help prevent corrosion.
