The Hornet may be showing its age by now, but this aircraft still remains one of the most beautiful aircraft in the sky today.
This F/A-18 Hornet was part of the Baana 22 Exercise in Joutsa, Finland. The exercise was arranged by the Finnish Air Force Academy and ran from September 25 to September 30, 2022.
As part of the exercise, Finland shut down a section of one of its main highways for the first time in decades. This decision allowed Finnish fighter jets to practice landings and take-offs on a reserve road runway. Finland has a dozen more “reserve runways” for wartime use scattered around the country.
