Meet the V-22 Osprey – a medium-lift, multi-mission, tiltrotor military aircraft which took almost two decades to develop. It first flew in 1989 but it wasn’t until 2007 when it was finally fielded in. It features vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) and short takeoff and landing (STOL) capabilities, and as of 2020, 400 of these have been built.

Last November 2020, the CMV-22B variant conducted carrier landings, take-offs and refueling. And as for the Air Force Special Operations Command, they’re using another variant, the CV-22. For the Marine Corps, the MV-22B provides safe, fast, and reliable transportation of personnel, supplies, and equipment.
