Talk About Theatrics.

Before we start this, we’ll make a pretty obvious statement. This is an opinion piece and we understand if you don’t agree with us. We’re actually sort of torn ourselves as to what we think of this, but we’ll do our little rant. At the end of the day, take a look at this and make your own opinion.

What you’ll be seeing in this video is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, except in Russia. We’ve shown you a bunch of videos of the one we have here in D.C., as the perfection that our guards show is unparalleled and should be well known.

Here’s our dilemma. This tomb is a war memorial for the literal millions of soldiers who fell during World War II who were never recovered or identified. We have the utmost respect for what this memorial stands for. No matter what sentiment you have with the Russians, it shouldn’t sway your opinion of what these men gave.

Having said that, here’s the pickle. For us, this walk and discipline just don’t look right. The high step (which you can’t coordinate perfectly as the guards are different sizes) is just not as polished as our guards in the U.S.

Take a look for yourself. We’ve included a clip right under this one showcasing how our guys and gals do it in case you’ve never seen it.
