The Elusive Nighthawk

Here it is – finally, we can see an operational F-117 Nighthawk up close. For those out of the loop, some aviation enthusiasts have spotted a fair amount of these stealth jets flying around Death Valley and the Nevada Test and Training Range over the last couple of years. They were also spotted visiting the California Air National Guard to support a training exercise with the 144th Fighter Wing in 2021.

The Air Force is understandably tight-lipped about the whole situation – especially since the aircraft was officially retired in 2008.

Fortunately, we saw the Nighthawk again in May last year. This Nighthawk was part of the Sentry Savannah exercise at the Air Dominance Center in Savannah, Georgia, along with other active duty units from around the country.

As you can see, the Nighthawk has not lost a step at all. Check it out below!
