Reunited Once More

For an aircraft that is at least five decades old, the Lockheed TF-104 Starfighter is still one of the most aesthetically beautiful planes ever produced.

The iconic Starfighter was officially retired from Italian Air Force service in 2004. Now, almost 20 years after its retirement, the Starfighter was brought back to Italy for the Italian Air Force’s 100th Anniversary at Pratica Di Mare.

The F-104S variant was the Italian-made version of the Starfighter, which served the country from the late 1960s until the beginning of the 21st century. This would ultimately be the last and final development of the Starfighter line.

Today, only the Starfighter Aerospace, based at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, operates the only airworthy fleet of F-104s. The company’s F-104s are used for experiments, hardware testing, simulations, training, and many more.
