The Reno Air Races is always a fun time for aviation enthusiasts of all kinds. There are so many aircrafts new and old to adored by the fans as they are pitted against each other in a test of speed. However, as infrequently as it may be accidents do occur when flying at those speeds and this weekend was no exception.
During the jet race, one aircraft attempted to pass another and they got a little too close for comfort. The jets collided causing a bump and some minor damage, but it didn’t seem to affect their flying.
“One of the jets circled around and cooled off and landed. The other had a wing pilot check the plane out and then they landed.”
– Melissa Cable
Both aircraft took safety measures immediately after and landed to ensure that things didn’t get worse. Both jets look a little scratched up and neither of the pilots were injured.
“The jets sustained some damage, but we are happy to report both pilots landed the jets safely.”
– Reno Air Races Association
It might look a little scary at first sight, but fortunately, these well-trained pilots got the situation under control. This clip shows the incident and as you can see it could have been a lot worse.
