War movies are a dime a dozen. It seems that a few come out every year, but when it comes to actually good, accurate movies about war (whichever war is the subject), there are only a few.
This movie might blur the lines between the two.
War Machine, starring Brad Pitt, is not your typical war movie as it blurs the line between reality and satire. In essence, it’s the story of retired general Stanley A. McChrystal. He was the subject of the book The Operators written by Michael Hastings. It chronicles General McChrystal’s tribulations while trying to end the war in Afghanistan only to be forced to resign as his methods and ideals didn’t meet with those of the administration. There is a lot to this story so if you’re not familiar with it, we recommend you do some reading here.
If you like war movies and poking fun at the obvious, this movie might be right up your alley. And if you’d like to watch it, you don’t have to wait too long. The movie comes out straight to Netflix on May 26th, 2017.
Check out the trailer. In our opinion, this looks pretty fantastic.
