Seeing a swarm of C-17s in the skies is equal parts terrifying and magnificent. These big cargo planes may look dangerous on the outside but as we all know, it’s the inside that counts.
It can seat 102 paratroopers or 100 patients with a medical crew. Aside from soldiers, it can also house an M1 Abrams tank, 2 Bradley armored vehicles, or even 3 Strykers. If supplies were needed, 54 soldiers can use the sidewall seats to allow the fitting of 13 cargo pallets.
Introduced in 1995, there are about 280 Globemaster IIIs in the world today. Its impressive 169 ft wingspan looks like it can fill up the skies if you put a handful of them up in the air.
