Railroads have been used for decades to move people, equipment, and supplies effectively. In fact, these were considered highly valuable during both world wars.
Today, the US military still makes use of some of its railroads located across the country. During the first half of the video, a Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement (MTVR) MK23 cargo truck can be seen driving carefully onto a train. MTVRs can carry a payload of up to fifteen tons – that includes an M777 Howitzer.
These vehicles use a ramp to load onto the train and are then tied down with heavy chains by the Marines. This is done to minimize the weight shifting during the journey, lessening the probability of an accident.
Watch how these vehicles uniformly settle themselves on the train in the YouTube video below!
