Jaws vs ARs

Swim calls are one of the best ways for sailors to unwind during their long deployments aboard ships. These events are somewhat rare and can entirely depend on whether the captain is in a good mood – or if there’s extra time to kill.

Nonetheless, if the crew got lucky, they would have to either pick someone to watch from the deck or deploy a whaleboat manned by a sailor with a rifle for protection.

In some cases, there were instances where a shark would get way too close for comfort. However, a quick burst from a rifle seems to do the job well as the shark gets scared and swims away.

The crew knows it’s time to wrap it up when that happens, though – who knows when the shark will be back!
