Gotta Love A Good Shot.

Just to start off, no one was hurt in the making of this video. We wish it was a ship full of ISIS heads, but unfortunately (or fortunately), they don’t have a Navy. Or any sort of ships for that matter. Can they even swim?

Anyway, that got a bit off topic. Let’s stick to the fact that a nicely equipped Seahawk blasted a Hellfire into one of our own ships, namely, USS Rentz. This was of course, part of an exercise. Called SINKEX, this part of Valiant Shield took place in 2016. The biennial exercise is meant to train our sea combat squadrons and takes place in the Philippine Sea.

USS Rentz was an Oliver Hazard Perry-class guided missile frigate. She was commissioned in 1984 and decommissioned in 2014. After two years in limbo, she was finally selected to be the target of this exercise.

She took on 22 missile hits overall, slowly sinking for 5 hours. The hellfire missile in this video however, was the one that did her in and sank her almost immediately.
